Supervises: Programme Managers, MEL Manager and Senior Programme Team
Job Purpose
The Head of Programmes will provide strategic and operational leadership to the entire programme portfolio of Unite to Grow Foundation. The position will be responsible for programme strategy, quality, expansion, team leadership, donor coordination, government engagement and achievement of organisation-wide development outcomes. The role will ensure that all programmes are aligned with the Foundation’s vision, strategic priorities and commitments to communities, donors and partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction of the Foundation’s programme portfolio.
- Develop long-term programme strategies aligned with the organisation’s mission and vision.
- Provide overall leadership for programme design, implementation, monitoring and scale-up.
- Ensure high-quality and evidence-based programme delivery.
- Supervise and mentor Programme Managers, MEL Manager and senior programme staff.
- Establish programme governance, review and accountability mechanisms.
- Develop annual programme plans and organisational implementation priorities.
- Monitor the overall performance of projects across locations.
- Ensure achievement of programme KPIs, outcomes and impact targets.
- Review programme performance through regular dashboards, reports and management reviews.
- Strengthen integration of monitoring, evaluation and learning into programme decision-making.
- Coordinate closely with the Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation team for proposal development.
- Develop new programmes and scalable intervention models.
- Support fundraising by contributing programme strategies, theories of change, budgets and impact frameworks.
- Maintain senior-level engagement with government departments, district and state administrations, CSR partners and donors.
- Represent the organisation in strategic meetings, conferences and sector forums.
- Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions and development partners.
- Ensure effective utilisation of programme budgets and resources.
- Work with Finance and Operations teams to ensure strong programme compliance.
- Develop organisational systems for programme quality assurance.
- Ensure risk management, safeguarding, inclusion and ethical programme implementation.
- Promote documentation of impact, case studies, innovations and organisational learning.
- Identify opportunities for programme expansion and geographical scale-up.
- Support leadership in organisational strategy and annual planning.
- Build a high-performance and collaborative programme culture.

Qualification
- Master’s degree in Development Studies, Rural Management, Public Policy, Social Work, Public Health, Education, Business Administration or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in the development sector.
- At least 4–5 years in a senior programme leadership or portfolio-management role.
- Strong experience in managing multi-location or multi-thematic programmes.
- Experience working with senior government officials, institutional donors and CSR partners is highly desirable.
