Sartorius Eureka Grant
Description
The grant is offered by Sartorius, an international life-sciences company supporting research in biotechnology, biopharmaceutical development, cell analysis, and related scientific fields.
The Eureka Grant is designed to provide targeted financial support to researchers who already have a promising project underway and need a final experimental push, additional data, or support toward publication.
Grant Objective
The main objective of the Sartorius Eureka Grant is to help researchers move an existing scientific project closer to a meaningful research outcome.
The programme specifically targets projects that are already at the data-generation stage rather than purely conceptual or exploratory ideas. The proposed work should have a clear experimental plan and demonstrate how additional support can help complete a critical research step.
Key Focus Areas
The grant is particularly relevant to research involving:
- Biotechnology
- Life sciences
- Cell biology
- Biopharmaceutical research
- Protein and biomolecular analysis
- Cell analysis and imaging
- Drug discovery research
- Translational research
- Biomedical research
- Laboratory-based experimental science
Projects should make meaningful use of eligible Sartorius BioAnalytical instruments as part of the proposed research.
Geographic Focus
Applicants from the following regions are eligible:
- India
- Japan
- Southeast Asia
- Australia
- New Zealand
Therefore, researchers working with eligible Indian universities, research institutes, biotechnology companies, and startups can apply.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include researchers affiliated with:
- Academic institutions
- Research institutes
- Biotechnology companies
- Startups
Applicants may include:
- Principal Investigators
- Postdoctoral researchers
- Scientists
The applicant must be involved in an active scientific research project that meets the programme requirements.
Grant Amount
One selected applicant will receive:
€5,000
The grant is intended to help progress the selected research project toward completion, publication, or another important scientific milestone.
Eligible Use of Grant Funds
Grant funding may support:
- Reagents
- Laboratory consumables
- Consumables used with eligible Sartorius BioAnalytical instruments
- Scientific publication costs
- Article Processing Charges (APCs)
- Other eligible consumables required for the proposed study
At least one reagent or consumable related to an eligible Sartorius BioAnalytical instrument must form part of the proposed research plan.
The grant cannot be used to purchase new Sartorius instruments or other major capital equipment.
Important Project Requirements
The proposed project must:
- Already be at the data-generating stage
- Have a clearly defined scientific question
- Include a specific experimental plan
- Use at least one Sartorius BioAnalytical instrument
- Demonstrate scientific merit and innovation
- Show how the funding will materially advance the project
- Have a realistic pathway to completion
- Be capable of completion by June 2027.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on:
- Scientific merit
- Innovation
- Potential research impact
- Strength of the scientific rationale
- Clarity of project objectives
- Feasibility of the proposed research
- Importance of the proposed experiment to overall project completion
- Role of Sartorius BioAnalytical instruments in enabling the research.
Expected Outcomes
The selected research project should use the funding to achieve a meaningful next step, such as:
- Completing a critical experiment
- Generating additional scientific data
- Strengthening research findings
- Completing a manuscript
- Supporting publication of research findings
- Bringing an ongoing project closer to a scientific breakthrough or conclusion
Relevance for India
The grant is directly relevant to researchers in India, particularly those working in universities, biomedical research institutions, biotechnology companies, life-science laboratories, and startups.
It can be particularly useful for Indian researchers who already have a substantial research project underway but require a relatively small amount of funding to complete an important experiment or generate the final dataset needed for publication.
Because the grant is only €5,000, it should be viewed as a research-completion or gap-funding opportunity, rather than funding for a new large-scale research project.
Application Period
Applications opened: 1 July 2026
Application deadline: 31 October 2026
Grant recipient announcement: By 31 December 2026.
Application Process
Applicants must complete and submit the official Sartorius Eureka Grant Application Form through the dedicated online application platform.
